Mundesley Road

Work complete

By Mundesley Road

The work on Mundesley Road has now been completed. The road has been re-opened since Saturday 29 February and accessibility to this road should be back to normal.

Ongoing works

By Mundesley Road

Works are still ongoing on this road. Following a burst water main, there was a need to re-excavate the trenches and due to the complexity and tight, restrictive access to the piping route, this has extended the timeframe of the works for Mundesley Road. The re-instatement of Mundesley Road is due by Monday 24 February.

Once we have further information we will provide an update.

Ongoing works

By Mundesley Road

There have been a few delays with the work on Mundesley Road, there were some issues locating a route for the new pipe. As a result we are employing welders to fabricate the pipe work in steel.

Currently it is estimated that Mundesley Road will most likely be closed until around Monday 17 February.

Once more information is available we will post a further update.

Mundesley Road update

By Mundesley Road

Phase one of the project is now well underway, but we have encountered problems underground that are regrettably going to cause delays. Due to the high density of underground cables and pipes in the area, we have been unable able to find a suitable route to lay our new gas pipe.

After meeting with Norfolk County Council’s highways team, we have agreed a plan to construct a temporary network of pipes above ground for the length of the scheme from Vicarage Street to the junction of Cromer Road. Once this is place, we will excavate to the existing metallic pipe, lifting and removing a section of the old pipe before replacing it with new plastic pipes in the original trench. This approach will ensure there is minimal disruption to the gas supply for properties on and around Mundesley Road. Once the work is completed and the above-ground temporary pipes removed, we will clear and reopen the road.

We anticipate that this will add an additional four weeks to the first phase of work. Teams will be working during the weekends where feasible to complete this phase as quickly as possible. We’d like to assure you that we are doing everything we can to keep the overrun to a minimum and also to minimise delays on our other work phases.

We will provide further updates as soon as we have more information.

Thank you for your patience while this additional work is undertaken.

By Mundesley Road

As of today, we are proceeding as planned. During the course of our work we needed to accommodate the water board to fix a leaking pipe, but with this done we are continuing to excavate according to our schedule. We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
